They get a certain amount of pleasure from playing and use it as a way to de-stress from the day’s events. It comes as no surprise that these players are probably the ones who enjoy their playing time the most. They aren’t desperate to win money because they have plenty of it to spend, or they simply play in a conservative manner that will make their cash last longer.
Some players choose to play online Video Poker because they NEED the money. These people usually only have a certain amount of money to spare in playing so they are more intense about winning. A sub group of these people play the game as a way to supplement their income. For obvious reasons, this is not nearly as relaxing as playing for pleasure.
If you’re playing to supplement your income, you need to be sure you’re very good at playing the game, as you need to be winning the majority of the time. There ARE some people who can be classified as professional players, but those are far and few between. Unless you have been playing online Video Poker for years and have a better than average rate when it comes to winning, it’s not a wise way to make extra money, let alone make the money to pay the bills.
People who play for pleasure seem to win more often than those who are playing out of desperation because they must have money. It’s not really known why things work that way. Maybe it’s the relaxed energy of the people playing for fun that brings more winning hands. But it’s hard to know for sure.
The best advice would probably be to play online Video Poker for fun and find other methods to make the money you need. Doing things this way may net you more money than you thought you might make.

It’s debatable as to whether or not there are any “perfect” strategies, since everyone is bound to make mistakes sometimes. Online Video Poker is still a game of chance somewhat, even though there are some good strategies that can be used for increasing the odds.
The “perfect” strategy is one in which the player makes the correct move for every single play. Obviously, knowing perfect online Video Poker strategies is a great way to win money, but some people just don’t have time to learn all the rules and to practise all that much. Fortunately, for some, decent and even basic strategies are enough. No, it’s not possible to win 100% of the time, but making a wise decision here and there is enough to at least win some money.
There are some decent strategies that, if done properly, can provide the player with the most optimal odds. It’s possible to make a few mistakes here and there, and the player has a slightly less chance of winning than they would with a perfect strategy, but they can still come out on top more often than not. Some time still needs to be spent on developing a good strategy, since part of winning includes knowing which moves to make and when.
Simple, basic strategies are what the majority of online Video Poker players go by. Usually, these types of strategies are techniques that can be used for ANY casino game. Some are money management techniques while others are ordinary Poker strategies. Beginners usually stick with this type of strategy, which can even work whenever luck’s on their side. Still, in order to win more often or not, it’s essential to develop better, more specific, Video Poker strategies.
